P-5-P (pyridoxal 5’-phosphate) is considered by many to be the best vitamin B6 form. Vitamin B6 (or pyridoxine) must have a phosphate group attached for it to bind to enzymes. P-5-P is considered an active coenzyme form of vitamin B6. It activates over 140 different enzymatic reactions in the body. Like the other B complex vitamins, you must obtain this water-soluble vitamin daily from food. This is because your body does not make it.
